How To Prepare Your Home For Buyers
Preparing your home for sale can be difficult, especially if you don’t know where to begin. Good preparation steps are important, and can remove red flags for the buyer.
Keep in mind that you want the buyer to make your current home, their home. So the key is to make them feel at home, in your home. (Whew! That sounds confusing!)
It’s actually quite simple, and here are four great steps to help your potential buyer feel right at home:

Clean, Clean, Clean. Take your home through a deep cleaning. The better it looks, the more people will be likely to give it a second look. Remember, the cleaner your house is, the more welcome they will feel.
Streamline your space. Remove unnecessary furniture and organize your closets. Try to make it look like a “just-for-show home”. Clutter and tight spaces crush the creativity and possibility thinking of your potential buyers.
Paint and Repaint. If your house is anything like mine, the walls probably have paint scuffs, nail holes, and a large variety of different dings and dents. When repainting, look carefully, because you may be accustomed to the minor flaws and miss things that would be obvious to you in anyone else’s home.
Design the Best Impression. Make sure the first impression is the best impression. Your entryway (front porch, if you have one) should urge, usher, or invite the potential buyer in. While it might be a pain to wash/repaint the door, or replace the porch light, as the saying goes, “You never have a second chance to make a first impression”.
To tie a metaphorical bow, if you want the buyer to buy-in (you see what I did there?) you need to fuel the buyers belief that they could live and be comfortable in your home. If you earn their buy-in and leave them enough space for creativity, you might just close the deal with the next interested person to walk in your front door.
