Heavy Moving Lifting Strategies
Inbound are a few fantastic lifting “strats” or strategies to help you lift heavy objects with style and stay healthy.
If you don’t know it, check the weight.
Now, this doesn’t mean you should start off by launching the object onto your bathroom scale with a pair of kitchen tongs and a spatula. If it’s too heavy, you’ll hurt yourself, and you’ll probably hurt the scale in the process. To test the weight, lightly push the object with your hands to see if it moves easily. (No back injury required!)
If it’s too heavy, ask for help.
This concept is one of the most effective and overlooked strategies to prevent injury to yourself and others. Try it. Go ahead, actually ask for help. Seriously, I think you’ll fall in love with the results. If you don’t love the results, I promise you a one-hundred percent money-back guarantee for all of the money you paid to read this. (If you actually did pay to read this, please let me know so I can get a percentage.)
If it’s still too heavy, use the right tool.
A handtruck or lifting straps can literally save your life, especially if you’re moving a stainless steel fridge-monstrosity on a tightrope, over a molten lake of lava. If you want to become (easily) a lot smarter than most people, you can use these tools for smaller items as well. (It’s super effective!)
Possible side effects of poor lifting strategies include: Headaches, nausea, back pain, hemorrhoids, plastic surgery, and possibly even death (as illustrated above).
So, whenever you lift something, stand close to it, keep your back straight, and lift slowly and steadily with your legs. If you follow these general and specific lifting strats, heck, you might even have some fun!
